【摘要】:1.1Thispracticecoversproceduresforthedesign,preparation,anduseofaxiallyloaded,tensiontestspecimensandfatiguepre-cracked(fracturemechanics)specimensforuseinslowstrainrate(SSR)teststoinvestigatetheresistanceofmetallicmaterialstoenvironmentallyassistedcracking(EAC).WhilesomeinvestigatorsutilizeSSRtesttechniquesincombinationwithcyclicorfatigueloading,noattempthasbeenmadetoincorporatesuchtechniquesintothispractice.1.2Slowstrainratetestingisapplicabletotheevaluationofawidevarietyofmetallicmaterialsintestenvironmentswhichsimulateaqueous,nonaqueous,andgaseousserviceenvironmentsoverawiderangeoftemperaturesandpressuresthatmaycauseEACofsusceptiblematerials.1.3TheprimaryuseofthispracticeistofurnishacceptedproceduresfortheacceleratedtestingoftheresistanceofmetallicmaterialstoEACundervariousenvironmentalconditions.Inmanycases,theinitiationofEACisacceleratedthroughtheapplicationofadynamicstraininthegaugesectionoratanotchtiporcracktip,orboth,ofaspecimen.Duetotheacceleratednatureofthistest,theresultsarenotintendedtonecessarilyrepresentserviceperformance,butrathertoprovideabasisforscreening,fordetectionofanenvironmentalinteractionwithamaterial,andforcomparativeevaluationoftheeffectsofmetallurgicalandenvironmentalvariablesonsensitivitytoknownenvironmentalcrackingproblems.1.4FurtherinformationonSSRtestmethodsisavailableinISO7539andinthereferencesprovidedwiththispractice().1.5si-value;Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.Furthermore,insomecases,specialfacilitieswillberequiredtoisolatethesetestsfromlaboratorypersonnelifhighpressuresortoxicchemicalenvironments,orboth,areutilizedinSSRtesting.
