【摘要】:Thisguideisintendedtoassistthosewritingorrevisingcompositionalspecification,samplingpractice,andanalysismethodstandardsforferrousandnon-ferrousmetals,ores,andrelatedmaterials.Itisdirectedtowardthoseareaswhichmustbeaddressedtoproperlycoordinatecompositionalspecification,samplingpractice,andanalyticalmethodstandards.Itsusewillhelpensurethatcompositionalrequirementsareclearlydefinedandthatsamplingpracticesandanalyticalmethodsareavailabletomeetproductspecifications.Thisguidedoesnotattempttodefinewhichelementsshouldbecontrolled,wheresamplesshouldbetaken,orhowtheyshouldbeanalyzed.TheseitemsareaddressedinstandardssuchasSpecificationA276,Methods,PracticesandTerminologyA751,TestMethodE34,PracticeE255,TestMethodE342,andTestMethodsE350.AprimarypurposeforASTMsamplingpracticesandanalyticalmethodstandardsistoprovidewidely-acceptedandtestedmethodologyforuseinmeetingASTMproductspecifications.Althoughitisrecognizedthatindividuallaboratoriesarefreetouseothermethods,theavailabilityofASTMapprovedmethodologyisessentialforrefereepurposesandtodemonstratethatproperlyequippedlaboratoriescanmaketherequiredmeasurements.Samplingpracticesandanalysismethodstoberecommendedforuseintestingagivenproductaremosteasilyselectedcooperativelybythespecification-writingandthemethods-writingcommitteeswhichhavejurisdictionfortheproduct.Whenexistingsamplingoranalysisstandardsdonotmeettheneedsofthenewproductspecificationstandard,thespecification-writingcommitteeshouldrequestthatthemethods-writingcommitteedeveloptherequiredstandards.ASTMCommitteeE-1isresponsibleformethodsandpracticescoveringthesamplingandanalysisofmostmetals,ores,andrelatedmaterials.1.1Thisguidecoversproceduresforspecifyingcompositionalrequirementsandidentifyingappropriatesamplingandquantitativeanalysismethodologiestobereferencedinproductspecificationstandardsformetals,ores,andrelatedmaterials.ItisnotintendedtoreplaceorconflictwitheitherindividualproductspecificationsorstandardscoveringbroadclassificationsofproductssuchasTestMethodsA751.1.2Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
